Personally, I can't stand this park and stopped going after a few tries. I can get over the small size of it and the muddiness, but it's the layout and the people/dogs I can't stand. First, the hill that sits in the middle of this park literally takes up the majority of the space - the flat path that encircles this hill serves more as a "mushy moat" on a rainy day. Watch your step as you walk up the stairs b/c they're awkwardly spaced with the occassional holes that some dog had dug. When you get to the top of the hill, you enter a singles meat-market. There's always some girl dressed up inappropriately cute for a dog park looking for some action or a jerk of a guy who ignores anyone who's not single, young, or female. Some woman, who was talking on her phone, shot a ball out of her chuck-it that missed my fiance's face by an inch and didn't even acknowledge that! Other times, there's just awkward silences as people sit around pretending there's no one else standing two feet from them b/c yes, the park is that small. However, aside from the rude and ridiculous people I've met, it's really the dogs (AND their owner's lack of responsibility) that irk me. There is always AT LEAST one aggressive dog at the park who manages to scare one of my dogs or somebody else's dog - BUT you will rarely see the owners call their dogs off. I've seen fights go down and no one seemed to care. There was even a pack of 6 50+ lbs dogs chasing one of my dogs, a jack russell terrier and NOBODY did a thing! Like I said, unless you're single, have a big (dominant) dog, and also have patience for rude people, live close by to GL, then yes, this park might be for you. Other than that, for your soul's sake, don't waste your time.

(This place is actually called Woodland Park Dog Park) It's my neighborhood OLP and we visit at least twice a week. The thing I DON'T like about this park is how muddy it gets. It sits in a heavily wooded area, shaded by trees, and has a mostly dirt floor. This means a lot of moisture is retained after the rains and the dogs are completely covered in mud in wetter weather, or dirt dust in dryer weather. If any dog park needed a "rinse off" station, it's this one, but that isn't available. The only true plus about this park is that it's just across the way from Green Lake, allowing you to take a walk with your pooch around the lake or allow him/her to jump in for a swim on hotter days.
