The dog park is well inside the park and just south of the 240 ft War Memorial. This dog park is supported by Friends of Barker Field. This dog park has bench swings, shade, and drinking water in the summer. Be sure to bring water for your pet in the winter months and also any plastic grocery bags to share. (We have also heard this referred to as Dogwood Dell.)

my favorite dog park in Richmond

This is a pretty big park, the city puts in fresh mulch periodically to keep it from being muddy. There is a water hose during the summer for drinking. In winter, bring your own water as they shut the hose off. There is a part of it sectioned off for small dogs. The park gets a bit crowded on weekends and in evenings, and nice days in general. Intact dogs are not allowed in the park, they must be spayed or neutered. They do supply used grocery bags for picking up waste. They also take them if you have extras! The dog park is inside of a larger park, so you can also walk your dog there while you're out. I love this park, there are usually plenty of other dogs to play with. They recently put in bench swings to enjoy while your dog plays, which is great. There is plenty of parking and one big tree in the dog area gives some shade when its hot outside.
