This dog park has been approved and then disapproved in 2009 and construction haulted. League City Dog Park Blog and League City Dog Park Association supports this dog park.

Although the League City Dog Park is now on indefinite hold, I am the president of a Non-Profit Organization listing all known and proposed Dog Parks within Houston/Harris County and the surrounding counties. Bay Area Running K9s (BARK9)
We currently have 19 Dog Parks with another 5 in development that should be finished in the next 6 months. The closest Dog Park to League is the newly opened 5.3 Acre Bay Area Dog Park.
Four members of League City Council voted to kill the dog park July 14, 2009. League City dog owners have a right to be recognized as respected people of this community. We are as entitled to have an area devoted to us as any other group of people. We have a right to socialize and exercise with people of like interests. I feel like the dog owners have been discriminated against in favor of sports enthusiasts. Our local government used a 2005 survey against us that clearly states that it cannot be directly applied to all League City residents. It is a survey that was sent out with water bills which excludes all people living in apartments and condos. The two last items on the survey are Skateboard Park and Indoor Soccer facility. Both have been built and are in use today. The dog owners of League City bring in a lot of tax revenue thru dog food, pet supplies, grooming, and vet needs. The population of League City in 2005 was 45,000. It is now at 65,000. The parks system is supposed to be representative of all people. While sports fields sit empty, the residents of League City have to drive to Harris County to exercise with their dogs. Please e-mail Mayor Randall and all city council members if you want a dog park in League City.

I drive 45 miles from Friendswood to the wonderful 17 acre Bill Archer Dog Park near the intersection of Hwy 6 north and I-10 West. I have a sighthound who needs to run and this park is perfect. If we had a similiar park nearby we would visit daily. I would even be willing to pay a reasonable fee - cheaper than gas!
This will be truly a blessing!
