This park is by far the best I have seen in the Denver area. So much room for not only dog owners, but for joggers and bikers. So much room for the animals to go crazy and still make friends. The city of Westminster really out did them selfs. Long hikes and a tired dog is the way to go. Thanks
The City does not take care of this 420 acre park. My dogs love it, but I hate the mounds of dog waste that people leave scattered about. My dogs and I step in something quite often. I once spent an hour picking up 50 pounds of waste in a paper grocery bag, all from a 600 x 200 foot area near the entrance! That's just a fraction of the park! The park is next to, and encompasses several reservoirs, and dog waste is a serious contaminant. Dog waste also contains parasites and bacteria that cause infection in humans.

This dog park had been closed - Bubonic plague causing high fever and sickness has been found in prairie dogs in this location and can be transmitted by fleas. No dogs had been affected yet. July 19, 2009.
so much space for licensed dogs to chase prairie dogs, splash around, and run and play with other dogs off leash. we've started coming here several times per week instead of hiking the front range open spaces and mountains. owners are fairly responsible for picking up after their furbabies, and the park provides compost-able baggies. dog waste and trash has separate bins so that the waste is composted and sold instead of going to landfills.
