Great Park

This is probably the largest dog park in the area and probably my favorite. My dog loved the large dog section and all of the freedom to run around. There was a great walking path around the large dog area and my dog thought we were on the best walk ever because she did not have to have her leash on.

Nice Dog Park!

Today was our first time coming to the Morgan Hill Dog Park. Our dog liked it a lot and he got to play with different types of dogs. He sure did tire himself out running around the rolling terrain. I like the layout of the big dog enclosure. It has real grass, big trees, several benches and a working water fountain for the dogs. The rolling terrain really gives the dogs a good workout when they play and run around.

There were a lot people and a lot of dogs this morning but we don't really mind. I want our dog to get exposed to a lot of people and a lot of dogs. I didn't experience any problems with most owners. I saw them picking up after their dogs and are quick to control their dogs if they got rowdy or play aggressively.

Although I almost got hit on the face by a chew toy that was thrown by a girl who was busy flirting with her boytoy. She wasn't paying much attention to where she was throwing it. She was just throwing it randomly to get her dog to play with it somewhere far away from them. I heard her say sorry but when I looked at her, she wasn't looking at me. It was as if she apologized to the invisible air. I didn't think much of it, I guess dog parks are the new dating places these days. Who knew? LOL.

Anyway, there was another owner who had really stressful/frustrating energy about him. When his dog got too excited, he bellowed "NO!" like a raging bull and it was heard all over the community park, not just the dog park. I kept a close eye on him and his dog for a while since our dog wanted to play with his dog. But it was a good thing, our dog found other more interesting things to do than hang out with them. So yeah, it was an interesting experience.

But all in all, we like this dog park. It's nice and clean and got lots of room to romp and roam around. So if you're like me who keeps a watchful but distant eye on your dog, be prepared to roam around too because there are a lot of ground to cover in this park. But if you're the type, who would unleash your dog and let him or her be while you chat up other owners, then the strategically placed benches could prove useful for you.

One thing that's not really good about this dog park is the small size of the small dog enclosure. The poor small dogs have little room to run or romp in there, which is really a shame. Is the city of Morgan Hill biased against small dogs? Anyway, go check it out.

I love the Morgan Hill dog Park! from all of the dog parks i have seen the Morgan Hill Dog Park beats out the competition no doubt. not only does the park have two separate areas for small dogs and large breed dogs but has large spacious lawns tress and on Sundays a few times a month has a local dog bakery selling gourmet dog treats, that's me. the name of the bakery that sells the treats is named Barkn Belly Bakery.

I travel up and down the northern California Coast and the Morgan Hill Dog Park is one of the best urban parks I've seen. Two fenced areas, a large area with a track for big dogs and a smaller area for little dogs both with benches, trees and grass make for a pleasant place to visit for both owners and dogs.

This park is part of a larger city park with a duck pond, large grassy areas, tennis courts, baseball/softball complex, senior center and grilling/picnic area that are dog friendly so that taking the dog can be part of a complete family outing - in all, an excellent facility.

Like every park there are owners that don't live up to the spirit of responsibility with their pets, but it's one of the few parks I've seen where the city Animal Control Officer is on-site at least once a day and the 'locals' will warn you about cranky dogs - or owners!

Dog Owners

I was going to the park for about 6 months up until 2/2/09 and over all I think the park is very good and most of the onwers are good. However I noticed noticed that some of the onwers would not control there dogs. Some would not pick up after their dogs, MOST would. I no long go to the park due to two incidences that happen on 2/2/09. One a disagreement with a lady who claimed one of my dogs was baring her teeth at her dog (accord to two people sitting there, it looked like my dog was smiling) and the second was one other of my dogs was attacked by a boxer. I hate that fact that I can't take my dogs to the park to meet and play with some other dogs and I can't talk to some very nice people because a few dog owners don't know how to react nicely with others or theay can't control their dog. By the way I do know that this happen is many dog parks not jsut this one.
